Viral pleurisy is a viral infection of the pleura. A viral pleurisy is most commonly caused by infection with Coxsackie B viruses. Occasionally, ECHO viruses cause a rare disease known as epidemic Pleurodynia or Bornholm disease that manifests with pleurisy, fever and muscle of the chest muscles.
