Narcolepsy is characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness chronsische, often with sudden loss of muscle tone (cataplexy). Other symptoms include insomnia and hypnagogic hallucinations and hypnopompic. The diagnosis is made by using the polysomnography and the multiple sleep latency test.
