Stasis dermatitis occurs in patients with chronic venous insufficiency (chronic venous insufficiency and post-thrombotic syndrome) because being stautes venous blood affected in the legs, the functionality of the endothelial cells in the microvasculature, resulting in leakage of fibrin, local inflammation and necrosis of local cells , Symptoms and complaints initially appear eczematous changes that manifest with erythema, scaling, oozing and crusting, each by a secondary bacterial infection or contact dermatitis, both of which are worsened by the often numerous topical medications that are often used. Hyperpigmentation and a red-brown discoloration can occur secondary to venous congestion and be present before a stasis developed. Hyperpigmentation can also occur as a secondary change after a stasis has developed. In case of inadequate treatment of chronic venous insufficiency and the Stauungsekzems latter proceeds to clear skin ulcers, chronic edema, thickened fibrotic skin or a lipodermatosclerosis (a painful hardening as a result of panniculitis that the lower leg in strong form, the shape of an inverted champagne bottle with thicker Wade and gives slender ankle) continue.
