Nasal Polyps

Nasal polyps are fleshy growths in the nasal mucosa at points at which a position-dependent edema in the lamina propria has formed, usually around the openings of the sinuses.

A polyp formation allergic rhinitis, acute and chronic infections and cystic fibrosis (CF) may predispose. In a Rhinosporidiosis the polyps can bleed. Sometimes polyps develop on only one side, for example in connection or as a manifestation of a benign or malignant nasal or sinus tumor. You can also be a foreign body reaction.
