Mycosis Fungoides

Last Updated on

When mycosis fungoides is a rare chronic T-cell lymphoma that primarily affects the skin and occasionally internal organs.

Compared with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma mycosis fungoides is rare. Unlike most other lymphomas initial diagnosis is often difficult to make because it manifests itself only as a chronic, itchy rash. It begins focally, but can spread and involve most of the skin. The lesions are plaque-like, but can develop nodular or ulcerating. In the course there is a systemic involvement of lymph nodes, liver, spleen and lungs, leading to symptoms such as fever, night sweats and unintended weight loss.
