Introduction To The Extra Intestinal Protozoa

Protozoa are single-celled organisms that occur worldwide. Many protozoa that cause extra-intestinal infections are transmitted by arthropods as vectors. These infections by arthropods include African trypanosomiasis, babesiosis, Chagas disease, leishmaniasis and malaria. Toxoplasmosis is transmitted through contaminated food. Free-living amoebae are transmitted through contact with surface water or soil.
