Encephalitis

Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain parenchyma, resulting from the direct entry of viruses. Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis is a brain and spinal cord inflammation that is caused by an inflammatory response to a virus or other foreign protein. Both diseases are usually caused by viruses. Symptoms may include fever, headache, an altered mental status, seizures or focal neurological deficits.
