Acute Necrotizing Ulcerative Gingivitis (Aug)

(Fusospirochätose; angina colitis; Plaut-Vincent infection or Vincent’s angina)

Acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis is a painful infection of the gums. The symptoms are acute pain, bleeding and foul breath. Diagnosis is based on clinical criteria. Treatment consists behutsamem debridement, improved oral hygiene, mouthwashes, supportive care and antibiotics if the debridement must be delayed.

The acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis (AUG) is most common in smokers and debilitated patients who are under stress. Other risk factors are poor oral hygiene, dietary deficiency, immunodeficiency (z. B. HIV / AIDS, use immunosuppressive drugs) and lack of sleep. Some patients also have oral candidiasis.
