Definition Of Arteriosclerosis

Arteriosclerosis is a general term for various pathological changes that cause a thickening and elasticity decrease in the arterial wall. Atherosclerosis, the most common form, is also serious and clinically significant because it causes coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular diseases. Nonatheromatous forms of atherosclerosis include arteriolosclerosis and Mönckeberg arteriosclerosis.
