(Disseminated lupus erythematosus) Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic, multisystem inflammatory disease with autoimmune etiology, which preferably occurs in young women. The most common manifestations of the disease are arthralgia and arthritis, skin rashes (often erythematous), pleurisy or pericarditis, kidney or central nervous system involvement and hematologic cytopenias.
